I hate planning. And when I say I hate it, I really hate it!So, when we heard about a tour group doing motorcycle rides throughout Australia, I jumped at the chance. I mean who doesn’t want the scheduling handled by someone else?

With our details provided to the company and the route provided to us in advance, we were ready to go.

We met up with the other members of the tour and with all the bikes checked, fuelled and packed, we were off on our adventure.

The riding pace was good and it wasn’t long before we left the main motorway and we were on some good regional roads with long straights, sweeping bends and fantastic scenery that had us both smiling.

Our stops were varied, informative and there was always something to see. The coffee & lunch stops were always at a locally owned café/diner/hotel. With not one stop at a “fast food” joint. Something everyone was pleased about.

Our accommodations each night was well planned and well appointed.

We made our way into Victoria and had a great trip through Castlemaine and into Ballarat.

The next day we were on our way to the Great Ocean road. This road and scenery does not disappoint. we were all wanting to turn back and do that section of road again, but we had to push on.

A couple more days in Victoria seeing some more sights and lunch to Seafood restaurant co-op, the Twelve Apostles, Chocolate factory and more.

Guided Rides Australia also arranged for a local business to open up early so we could have our breakfast and hit the road early. (such good planning).

The roads continue to be wonderful, and you just want to keep pushing though to the next curve, and that’s what we did as we crossed into South Australia. We all hopped off the bikes and had a group photo at the border.

Not far to go now, but there was still more to see. When they said we were headed to a “sinkhole” I thought Oh, great! I would not have planned this. But, I was surprised to see this place. Climbing the stairs down to the bottom and with all the greenery, flowers growing out of the walls. Butterflies each way I looked. WOW!

We had one more night with the group before we had to leave the tour. Our dinner was good with lots of laughs and stories.

We both had a great time riding some wonderful roads, visiting great places and enjoying the company.

So, if you want to ride good roads with a great tour group, do yourself a favour and ride with Guided Rides Australia. You will love it.

We did the Great Ocean Road Tour with Tyrone and Melissa in September 2023. It was the best holiday we have ever taken in our own country and this tour took us to places and through scenery that we never imagined existed.The tour not only provides magical riding experiences but many interesting and tasty stops along the way. Melissa and Tyrone take pride in supporting local business so all meals were at family owned pubs, cafes and restaurants where the dietary requirements for members of the travelling party were catered for.Small group riding is an excellent way to enjoy our amazing country with people who share your passion or motorbikes. At the end of each riding day there is time to rest up before dinner and then continue on into the night with the group or retreat to your room to savour the unforgettable experiences of each day.Any tour with Tyrone and Melissa is the real deal. Their research, planning and attention to detail are exemplary with absolutely nothing left to chance. Both my wife and I recently did the South Australia ride with Guided Rides Australia and we had a fantastic time.
