Welcome to Sydney!
Sydney is the not only the oldest but is the largest city in Australia and is one of the world's most vibrant and famous cities. It's famed for the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.Check into your accommodation in the heart of the city and we will meet you at the Welcome Dinner. This will give you an opportunity to get to know your fellow riders on the tour. We will also go over the tour details including a review of the itinerary and safe group riding practices.
Day 1 – Sydney to Mudgee – 311 km (193 miles)
Today is our first ride day. We will meet you in the lobby of the hotel and load your luggage in the support vehicle. You will then board the shuttle to the bike hire office. Once everyone has completed their paperwork it's time to hit the road.Leaving Sydney, we will ride through the Blue Mountains using the second road to be constructed through the mountains, initially marked out in 1823, and which follows part of the traditional Indigenous Darug Peoples pathway network. Once over the mountains we will ride some interesting roads through the early New South Wales goldfields, stopping for a break in the oldest surviving gold rush town, before arriving in Mudgee.
Day 2 – Mudgee Winery Tour Day
The Mudgee Wine Region is home to many outstanding boutique wineries that have been captivating Australians for over 40 years. Today is a day off the bikes, you will enjoy a full day winery tour where you will be picked up by a tour bus, you will visit 5 wineries and stop for lunch at either a winery or a country pub in the Mudgee Region, then be dropped back to the motel in the afternoon.
Day 3 – Mudgee to South Bowenfels – 243 km (151 miles)
We start making our way back to Sydney and will stop along the way at a lookout with views over the Capertee Valley, the second-largest canyon in the world. It is also the widest canyon in the world at 30 kilometres (19 miles) wide, 1 kilometre (0.6 mile) wider than the Grand Canyon in Arizona, United States. We continue to a town known as “the town that built Sydney”, which is where we will stop for lunch, then take a nice leisurely ride through peaceful highland countryside, passing through historic villages, along the original circa 1837 route linking Sydney to the Central Tablelands region.
Day 4 – South Bowenfels to Sydney – 140 km (87 miles)
On our final day we will ride over the highest point of the Blue Mountains, Mount Victoria, then stop at Echo Point in Katoomba. Here you will ride the world's steepest passenger railway and get to take in the breath-taking sights of the Three Sisters rock formation, the spectacular sandstone cliffs that rise out from the Jamison Valley, and Mount Solitary, the only mountain that sits within the valley. Our final run down the mountain brings us to a wildlife park on the outskirts of Sydney where you will have a chance to meet some of Australia's native animals, including koalas, kangaroos, dingos, and the kookaburra then to Sydney where we will drop the bikes off and we will shuttle you back to the hotel in Sydney. The last activity of the tour is the Farewell Dinner where we can re-live our trip and exchange details with the new friends that we have just shared the road with for the last 4 days.
